MODE![]() The partnership, built with 7 partners from 6 countries (2 accession ones), is planned to strengthen relations between European NGOs, help break down barriers between people and groups, promote the learning of other cultures but also support the multiplication of NGOs and NGO networks.
Objectives of the project The general objectives of the project are to: -foster citizens’ participation and interaction between citizens’ and NGOs through debates on how to improve EU’s policies and civic participation, with a focus on volunteering. Citizens will express their opinion on the Union’s future -raise awareness on the common values of democracy, citizenship and participation. Thus it will contribue to the development of a sense of European identity. As 2 partners are from candidate countries the project will also help developing a sense of European identity in the wider Europe -promote citizens’ involvment at European level through debates and exchanges abroad, fostering interculturality, a better understanding and thus appropriation of the EU -Project’s focus: is the capacity of civil society organisations and volunteering, as core value of the EU. Given the 60th anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, the 7 exchange experience meetings will use in their methodology a debate on the future of the EU especially in accession countries -Active European citizenship: is a core value of the EU’s policy at large scale, reason for us to involve candidate countries. The exchange of good practices between old and future EU members may help it become a tool addressing European challenges. -MoDE integrates mobility as a methodology of intercultural dialogue, encouraging and multiplying dialogue between European communities -Immigration will be discussed not as economic immigration but as a method of building knowledge intesive societies and an essetial freedom of the EU -Using creative and innovative ways to promote European we address the 2009 European year of creativity. Furthermore we are to use mentoring sessions on-line and create a new methodology encouraging brain circulation and deepen the sense of European identity. -Volunteering: is a key component of active citizenship. In the light of the Year of Volunteering, the project focuses on the dimension and role of volunteering. The topic addresses big challenges both in EU and pre-accession countries. All partners have relevant experience in this field and are willing to raise awareness about it in the context of improving citizen participation Activities of the project The project will take place in 6 countries from April 2010 to January 2011.
