Short Description

The project VIT focuses on volunteering and democracy in an enlarged Europe. It aims at promoting volunteering in towns, addressing this issue from a participatory perspective.

Objectives

In particular, the project wishes to create a platform involving different types of stakeholders (see partnership below) for debate, action and reflection on how citizens may enhance governance in Europe. At the same time, the project aims at revitalizing existing town-twinning relations of the partner towns and initiate new twinning.

Activities

The project will last two years and involve following elements:

• 18 workshops on local level in the participating towns. These workshops will last two days, involve international participants and address the topics of volunteering and governance through the local perspective. A further focus will be set on active ageing.
• Three international conferences, providing opportunities to exchange experiences and develop networking and cooperation in the addressed fields. There will be one conference per year, in Poland (Bydgoszcz, 8/9 July 2011), Albania and Ireland.
• A methodological publication and a DVD will be produced, collecting and disseminating the outcomes.

The project will last from 2011 to 2013.
